In 2013, The Indiana High School Athletic Association partnered with Special Olympics of Indiana to create a meaningful and competitive athletic experience between students with and without intellectual disabilities. Since then, every spring, athletes from across the state come together to build friendships, and reach their full athletic potential through competition and good sportsmanship.
The Ben Davis Unified Track team is made up of student athletes and partner athletes of all abilities who compete against teams in: shotput, long jump, 100 M, 400 M, and the 4×100 relay. Our season starts in the spring semester and ends in May. We will have practices at least twice a month, if not more and meet dates vary on the season, but are typically once a week.
We are always looking for student partner athletes from Ben Davis! If you want to join, please first complete a physical (available in the atletic office), and come see Coach Johnson in A117.
