Preview– Mixed Show Choir

Course Title: PREVIEW, MIXED SHOW CHOIR (INTERMEDIATE CHORUS)
Length/Credits: 2 Semesters – 2 Credits

Open To: Men – Grades 9, 10, 11, 12   Women – Grades 9 only
Prerequisite: Vocal Audition

Course Description: This class is an exciting opportunity for singers to be involved in an extensive performance experience in all styles of music. Students  are selected by vocal and dance audition. This course is a performance-oriented choir featuring jazz, pop, Broadway, and rock music  choreographed to create a musical show that is presented in school, community, and contest events. Music from the Renaissance,  Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary periods will also be studied and performed. Music history, theory and sight singing are  an integral part of the program. The student is expected to participate in all rehearsals and performances outside of class time. This  includes many Saturday obligations. Students are charged a fee to lease their outfit and help cover other show choir costs for the school  year. Additional enrollment in a concert choir is highly recommended.
